Health &
Safety
Management
Support
Services
Very few
employers
have the
time
knowledge
or
resources
to deal
adequately
with the
demands
of
health
and
safety
legislation.
Yet the
consequences
of
failure
can be
severe
both in
human
and in
legal
terms.
Furthermore,
it is
likely
that new
legislation
will be
enacted
to allow
charges
of
corporate
manslaughter
to be
brought
against
named
directors
and to
link
fines to
turnover.
It is
crucial
that
employers
deal
with
this
aspect
of their
business.
Acton
Jennings’
clients
have
found
our
approach
to be an
effective
and cost
effective
way to
meet
their
obligation
in law.
Our
services
include:
-
Written
statements of health and safety policy.
-
Health &
safety audits and monitoring
-
Competent
person and external support
-
Training
-
Indemnities
All our
work is
underwritten
and in
the
event of
any
enforcement
action
by the
Health &
Safety
Executive,
Environmental
Health
etc. we
provide
representation
and meet
the
costs of
your
defence.
Policies & Documentation
Many
organisations
do not
have the
sufficient
time,
resources
or
expertise
to draft
the
requisite
documentation
to
properly
meet the
requirements
of
current
health &
safety
legislation.
Therefore,
Acton
Jennings
is able
to
design
and
create
tailor
made
health &
safety
system
specific
to your
particular
organisational
requirements
The
likely
form of
this
system
shall be
an
overall
Health
and
Safety
Policy
together
with all
relevant
documentation
to meet
legislative
requirements.
We shall
also
ensure
that
responsibilities
for
health &
safety
are
effectively
delegated
to
particular
members
of staff
by
setting
out
particular
responsibilities
of
individual
employees
their
own
personal
copy of
a
Company
Employee
Handbook.
Thereafter,
we are
able to
keep
documentation
up to
date.
Whether
forced
upon you
by a
change
in the
law, or
because
of
changes
within
your
Company's
arrangements,
we carry
out the
amendments.
Inspections
& Audits
Acton
Jennings
can
carry
out an
in depth
health
and
safety
inspection
of your
Company
premises,
including
multiple
sites if
necessary.
These
inspections
shall
examine
the
physical
working
environment;
the
procedures
and
control
measures
already
in place
and your
organisation’s
attitude
to
safety
management.
These
inspections
shall
enable
Acton
Jennings
to
determine
what
remedial
work is
required
in order
that
your
organisation
shall
meet
with
minimum
health &
safety
standards
and
details
of
necessary
action
shall be
given as
verbal
feedback
on the
day of
visit,
and also
as a
management
report
with
inclusions
and
additional
supporting
information
if
appropriate.
All
reports
will be
clearly
written,
avoiding
so far
as is
possible,
technical
jargon.
Recommendations
for
improvements
will be
provided
in
relation
to
hazards
identified.
The
Role of
Competent
Person
Regulation
7 of the
Management
of
Health
and
Safety
at Work
Regulations
1999
requires
the
employer
to
appoint
a
'competent
person'.
That
person
should
ideally
be
internal
but
external
help and
assistance
may be
sought.
Acton
Jennings
can act
as that
external
competent
person.
