Why Acton Jennings?

Every employer is faced with the problem of increasingly complex, fast moving employment law legislation.  Access to accurate, sensible advice on HR issues is therefore essential to any employer. Our Human Resources advisers have many years of experience in dealing with all manner of HR problems. We are not a call centre type operation or overly focussed on online systems: We are people focussed and you will usually deal with the same advisor. Unlike many of our competitors, we draft bespoke legal documentation on your behalf rather than directing you to a web site where you can access a generic document, which may not be fit for purpose.

The legal and moral requirement for employers to meet health & safety standards is well understood. The failure to comply with H&S law however can have serious consequences that are often less well understood.

Acton Jennings LLP will ensure that you are given sensible, practical support on how to meet your obligations. We do that by acting as the external competent person, (having one is itself a legal requirement), and by visiting your premises to report on current standards. We offer help with your risk assessments and we provide a tailored Health and Safety Policy together with H&S handbooks, that are unique to  each client

We also have an in-house Occupational Hygiene practice. You can find us in the British Occupational Hygiene Society handbook. Acton Jennings LLP offers a wide range of occupational hygiene services including thorough examinations of  LEV systems, noise assessments, air monitoring etc. and we are asbestos surveyors with substantial experience in carrying out all types of asbestos surveys.

All of our work is backed by an indemnity insurance policy. In relation to HR problems this means that any HR client taken to an employment tribunal, providing that our advice has been followed, would be entitled to representation at the hearing and any award the employment tribunal makes would be paid by us. In relation to our health and safety services, the policy allows us to fund the  appeal an Improvement or Prohibition Notice where we think there are reasonable prospects of success. In the event of a prosecution, we would meet the costs of defence.

Acton Jennings can produce tailored training in any aspect of health and safety that may be relevant to your staff, to be delivered at your workplace. We are accredited trainers with IOSH and City and Guilds.

We are also able to help clients to secure or to retain ISO accreditations. We currently offer OHSAS 18001, ISO9001 and ISO14001.

These are just some of the reasons why new clients come on board or why our clients stay with us. We are extremely proud that last year over 90% of our clients chose to renew their contracts with us. Acton Jennings do not retain clients by locking them in to long, automatically renewing or rolling contracts and we do not rely on clients missing the notice date to keep them. We are so confident of the quality and cost effectiveness of our service that we do not even require a notice period, unlike most of our competitors.

Our business is helping you to protect yours…
